The large Bonatongo family celebrated on Sunday October 6, 2024, the 6th edition of Excellence

The Salle des Fêtes d'Akwa served as the setting for the celebration of the Bonatongo children’s academic and university results. The day began with a thanksgiving service at Bethel Church, followed by a parade through the streets of Bonamikengue village. The promotion of this year bears the name of ambassador JACQUES KUOH MOUKOURI.

In his speech, the president of the Bonatongo Excellence organizing committee, Mr. FREDERIC TONGO MBIA, deputy head of the Bonadibundu Home, is riding the wave of the digital revolution while regretting that Africa does not have a “digital champion” and “does not even give the impression of knowing what we are talking about”. He encourages the beneficiaries of this year’s excellence to take up this challenge. “With its young people, Bonatongo can do it”. He adds, I quote, “this ceremony is a moment of transmission and reward” end of quote.

10 boys and 16 girls, for a total of 26 pupils and students. This is the number of children and grandchildren of the large Bonatongo family who have been awarded for the academic and school results obtained during the 2023/2024 school and academic year. The graduates rewarded by this sixth edition of Bonatongo Excellence range from Cep to Master 2.

In addition to the financial rewards, they received textbooks and some gadgets for learning the Duala language. "The cultural prize that I received is a symbol that I accept given the efforts that I made during the academic school year, and it will give me even more strength to work and also encourage my juniors to also make more efforts to be there next year to be rewarded. If it happens that I work, given that in the Bonatongo family, we are a united and close-knit family, I will help the new winners as best I can by giving my share of contribution, so that they can also feel encouraged by me who was in their place in the past" declares JEAN JACQUES JUNIOR DJIBA, winner with a master II degree.

Note that the Bonatongo family from Bonamikengué in Akwa has eight households (BONEKUTU, BONAKUOH, BONETONDE, BONABARLA, BONADIBUNDU, BONASUNGE, BONEKITIKE, BONAJOHNSON).

During this ceremony, the Bonatongo paid a well-deserved tribute to one of their sons who died on May 15, 2002 at the age of 92, Ambassador JACQUES KUOH MOUKOURI, from the Bonakuoh home whose 2024 Excellence promotion bears his name, for the absolute model he was both in the community, as a unifying patriarch, and everywhere else as the very first Ambassador of the young Republic of Cameroon who, at the dawn of the 1960s, was taking his first steps in the concert of nations.
